Philippians 2:1-11 || Humility

Rejoice - A Study of Philippians | As we are transformed by the gospel, our lives will align with the Truth and we will be unified with other believers, having the same mind. One way our unified lives affirm gospel truth is the fruit of humility and putting others ahead of ourselves. But how do we, a people bent towards selfishness, live humbly? As Martyn Lloyd Jones once said, humility is not achieved by following a to-do list, rather, it’s by looking at the Lord Jesus, who is the perfect example of humility.

Philippians 1:12-18 || The Advance of the Gospel

Rejoice - A Study of Philippians | In verses 12-18 Paul further elaborates on why he can rejoice, despite his imprisonment. The reason is because God is using Paul’s suffering to advance the gospel. In this section of Philippians, we are reminded of the incredible truth that God is bigger, and He can, and will, use man’s efforts to suppress the gospel to actually advance it. This is both a challenging and encouraging reminder that God uses the suffering and tough circumstances we endure to spread His Kingdom.

John 15:12 || Last Words

“Ten Words” Sermon Series || As we wrap up our Ten Words series we turn to the New Testament. The night before Jesus was crucified, during the last supper with His disciples, He declares a new commandment; to love one another as He has loved us. Exodus 40 || He Reveals His Glory

Exodus (The God Who Renews) Series || In chapter 40 of Exodus we see Moses and Israel fully obey God’s command to build the tabernacle and consecrate the priests, followed by the climatic moment where God comes down and fills it with His glory. But as glorious as this moment was, we’re reminded the work isn’t finished. This moment ultimately points to a greater moment in our world’s history. The moment Christ came down and dwelt amongst us. The tabernacle, the priests, and even the whole of Exodus is but a ‘foretaste of glory divine’.

Matthew 1:18-25 || Dreaming of a Savior

Dreamers (2018 Advent Study) Series || CS Lewis once said ‘Now the story of Christ is simply a true myth: a myth working on us the same way as the others, but with this tremendous difference that it really happened: and one must be content to accept it in the same way, remembering that it is God’s myth where the others are men’s myths.’ The incredible story told in Matthew 1:18-25, the angel’s appearance in Joseph’s dream, the virgin birth, and the arrival of Immanuel, are all true! And we also find in this story that Joseph isn’t simply a prop in your church’s nativity play, but instead a just man who believed and obeyed God.

1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 || Encourage One Another

One Another (The Path of Biblical Community) Series || In 1 Thessalonians 4:17-18 Paul reminds believers we are to encourage one another. In this sermon we study what it means to encourage by looking at a man in the Bible who was so known for being an encourager that he was given a nickname that reflected this. As we look at his life we see several ways we can encourage one other. And most importantly, are reminded that our encouragement needs to be grounded in biblical truth and principles.
