Rejoice - A Study of Philippians | How are we to understand what Paul says here in vs 12; ‘work out your own salvation with fear and trembling’? The key is to ensure this command is placed within the proper context and order of the whole letter of Philippians. Prior to and after this verse, Paul repeatedly makes clear that salvation is begun and completed by God, through the finished works of Christ. But we, children of God, are to shine as lights in this dark world, and therefore, we have a responsibility to actively pursue holiness in our lives.
